Guide
Why shared calendars fail for livery yard bookings.
Shared calendars are useful for showing time, but livery yard bookings usually need more context. The yard needs to know who is riding, which horse is involved, what rules apply, and whether the slot was used.
A calendar does not know the horse
The biggest gap is horse context. A facility slot is incomplete if it is not connected to the horse and rider permission.
A calendar does not manage access
Family members, shared caretakers, and temporary riders often need different permissions. A shared calendar cannot handle that cleanly.
A calendar does not prove attendance
Check-ins are needed when operators want real usage data rather than trust-based booking records.
